Recipes Egg Fried Rice

Egg Fried Rice

Fried rice, simple, easy, and fast; perfect for the college student or adult with not much time and always on the run, this tells how to make fried rice and has a recipe to go along with it.

First of all you need some things, gather the following items:

1. 2 Big pots (obviously!) or a pan, but that may be more messy.
2. 1 small bowl
3. (Optional) One way to make rice, I would say would to use a steamer, but if you don’t have one, you can still make it in a pot
4. Something to stir the rice. (This is just self explanatory)
5. Knife
6. Bowl

Second, you need the ingredients! For the bare minimum for fried rice, you have to have items 1-4, and if you’re lucky, you can pass it off to your friends as actual fried rice.

1. cup of rice for two servings, any brand.
2. 1 egg per half a cup of rice.
3. 1 tbsp of Olive oil
4. Your desired amount of soy sauce
5. 2 stalks of green onions/chives per half cup of rice
6. cup (or desired amount) of frozen peas and carrots
7. tbsp (or desired amount) of sesame oil
8. 3 dashes of pepper

Now it’s time for the procedure, this is how I personally make steamed rice, but you can modify it as you wish.

1. Begin steaming the rice in one of the pots (or in the steamer), stirring occasionally. Continue cooking the rice until it is slightly undercooked. Cooking it fully right now will cause the rice to become overcooked in the end after you have to cook the rice the second time.
2. Get the egg(s) ready by whisking them in a bowl.
3. Chop up the green onions to desired size.
4. Pour the olive oil into one of the big pots and begin to heat on the stove
5. When the oil has reached a high temperature, pour the egg into the pot and scramble.
6. When the egg is finished cooking, add the rice from the other big pot and break it up a bit.
7. After 2-3 minutes add your frozen peas and carrots and continue to cook 5 more minutes or until peas and carrots are no longer frozen.
8. Almost done! Slowly add the soy sauce until you achieve a light brown color, you may darken it or lighten it as much as desired, but too much can cause it to be too salty and vice versa. It would be a good idea to taste your rice until you have achieved your desired ‘saltiness’.
9. Lastly, the water and soy sauce will slowly evaporate; continue to stir until desired consistency of the rice is achieved.

Now that doesn’t sound so bad does it! Please have fun with the recipe and most importantly, enjoy!
