McDonald’s is one of, if not the, largest fast food burger chain in the world. Millions, if not billions, have been served inexpensive French fries and cheeseburgers. Millions of children have ordered Happy Meals and have gotten some “cool” new toys, too. Even though I used to visit McDonald’s on a bi-weekly basis as a child, I now do not go there unless I am starving, I have only a couple of dollars in my pocket, and I have no other fast food choice that offers inexpensive food.
First of all, I have to comment on McDonald’s food quality. If you are expecting fresh ingredients, you are better off trying to make a cheeseburger at home. I know that the locations I have visited have microwaved the food I ordered. Why should I pay almost $4 for a cheeseburger when the person who is making it is just going to use the microwave? I could pay $3 for an In-N-Out burger that is made fresh with fresh ingredients. Although I like ordering from the dollar menu when I go to McDonald’s, I sometimes spring for the more expensive menu items. For example, I used to love the grilled chicken sandwiches. Over time, however, I got tired of eating them because they were basically flavorless. I could have made a chicken sandwich at home for a lower cost.
The French fries are the best thing from McDonald’s. Usually, depending on the location, I can get freshly made, piping hot French fries. Of course, it also depends on what time of the day you visit that location. If you visit late in the day, you probably have a bigger chance of getting stale day-old French fries. But, if you visit in the morning, you might get freshly made ones.
However, the best thing about McDonald’s is their prices. Generally you can get away with paying less than a couple of dollars for a meal. I find, on the other hand, that the meal does not last very long if you are only going to eat one of their dollar hamburgers. You would also need to get french fries.
At any rate, I only go to McDonald’s when I’m in dire need of really cheap food. It’s not the best food in the world, but when I’m desperate and really hungry, it will do. All in all, I only recommend McDonald’s for those times of real need.
